Joseph E. Zuback is the President and Founder of
Global Water Advisors, Inc., a firm that specializes in providing support to
global water managers, solution providers, and investors for optimization of performance, development, and commercialization of advanced water technology products
and systems.
Mr. Zuback’s thirty-five years experience in the water
industry spans the spectrum of municipal, industrial, commercial, marine, and
residential water and wastewater treatment markets around the world. He retired
at the end of 2008 from Siemens Water Technologies Corp (formerly USFilter). where he served as
Chief Technology Officer, Senior Vice President, and a member of the Executive
Council management team. His management responsibilities included new product
rationalization and development processes, intellectual property,
technology risk assessment, new venture commercialization strategies, and coordination
with Siemens’ global network of water technology research partners. During his Siemens tenure, Mr. Zuback served
as Siemens’ chief water technology spokesman at numerous global water policy and
technology conferences and panels.
Prior to Siemens acquisition of USFilter in 2004, Mr. Zuback
served in a variety of senior management roles in support of USFilter’s rapid
growth in the 1990's from $50 million to $5 billion in annual water technology and services
revenue. He
co-chaired the Municipal Strategic Market Team that integrated sales and
marketing strategies for multiple municipal product companies acquired over an
18 month period with annual revenue exceeding $500 million. Mr. Zuback created and
managed USFilter's Corporate Projects Group that was tasked to integrate and supervise large or high risk projects and commercial
opportunities that spanned multiple business
centers. As USFilter’s “SWAT Team”, CPG
supported or led projects as diverse as large municipal water public-private
partnership projects, the Salton Sea Restoration Demonstration Project, and a fast
track seawater filtration solution for the set of the movie “Titanic”.
For the 20 years prior to joining USFilter in 1994, Mr. Zuback worked in a variety of water technology and business development roles for Infilco Degremont and Dow Chemical. He has been a passionate supporter of water technology innovation over
his career reflected in many diverse water technology patents, most recently for a method that significantly reduces the energy requirements of membrane bioreactors and that resulted in his receiving the “Siemens Water
Technology Inventor of the Year” award for 2008.
A
graduate of Purdue University,
Mr. Zuback holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Chemical Engineering and has
been a licensed Class A General Engineering Contractor in the State of California
for 20 years. He currently serves as a board member for the Water Environment
Research Foundation and was a member of the International Advisory Panel for Singapore’s Environment & Water Industry Development
Council from 2006 to 2008. He has also
served on the Advisory Board for the Chemical and Environmental Engineering
Department for the University
of California in
Riverside
and as an advisor to the US Strategic Water Initiative under the auspices of the
University
of Illinois
and WATERCAMPwS.
